A partir dai, o piloto da Seat dominou como quis a prova, andando sempre com mais de um segundo de avanço sobre os restantes adversários e aproveitando as várias lutas que se registaram atrás de si para ganhar uma vantagem confortável, que no final da prova era superior a 4 segundos para o 2º classificado, Rickard Rydell, seu colega de equipa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As palavras de Tiago Monteiro:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;" class="Texto_bold"&gt;“Foi fantástico, foi um trabalho importante de toda a equipa. Sabíamos que tínhamos um carro bom como o provamos nos treinos livres e foi pena o problema durante a qualificação porque de certo teria saido para a primeira prova mais na frente, assim tive de me contentar com o décimo. O objectivo para a primeira corrida era ficar no sétimo ou oitavo lugar, para termos uma boa posição de largada para a segunda prova, e foi isso que conseguimos. Na segunda prova arranquei muito bem e fui embora, tive de manter um ritmo forte para manter a concentração. A versão de 2008 recebeu melhoramentos no chassis e apurou a aerodinâmica. O motor mantem-se o 3.8 boxer de 465 CV às 8000 rpm que equipava a versão anterior. No entanto, o novo RSR recebeu spoilers adicionais na dianteira com novas entradas de ar. Ao todo, são 64 válvulas, sendo 4 por cilindro. Toda essa de força é instalada na parte central do carro, bem atrás do banco do condutor. São gerados cerca de 3000 cv de potência, mas apenas 1000 são distribuídos pelas quatro rodas. 1000 deles são tragados pelo sistema de refrigeração e 1000 evaporam pelo sistema de escape.
